Our origins

José Ferro Rodeiro, creator of the popular Spanish dessert “Flan Chino Mandarín” in the 1950s, acquired a hydroelectric power station in Muras (Lugo, Spain), using the energy to manufacture the plastic spoons and rubber figures that accompanied the famous dessert.

During the 1960s, this unique factory dedicated to manufacturing accessories began to extrude and inject plastic products, especially PVC pipes and accessories for water supply and waste drainage systems, as one of the pioneers in this sector in the Peninsula.

In 1980, after the death of its founder, the company Plásticos Ferro, S.L. was created, in order to continue with the project. The new owners of Plásticos Ferro set their sights on the future, investing in technology and creating its own new commercial network.

In the 1990s, Plásticos Ferro set underway its first Director Plan, based on the innovation and development of new products, improving the logistics and commercial system, developing its IT system, the international expansion of the company, and the development of its organisational and human resources structure.

From this moment on, and thanks to the acquisition of the different companies that now form a part of the GPF group, the foundations were laid for the development of a business project with a clear customer and quality orientation, and which is today a leader in its sector, ranked as the first in the Iberian Peninsula and the fifth in Europe.
